Michael Kors Cake

Another request for a cake that looks like a purse! I got to be creative and choose the colours that I wanted so I chose sky blue because it is cute and it works well into the fondant. I find black and brown take forever to kneed in and it doesn't always look the greatest - there are sometimes streaks!

They were undecided on the flavor of cake so I went with marble. I started by baking a chocolate and a vanilla in a bread pan. After they were cooled, I put icing in the middle and stuck them together.

Then I lightly iced the outside of the cake. Keep the icing light because the more icing, the more the fondant will slide around.

I then rolled out the fondant, measured the ends of the cake and cut the fondant to fit with a pizza cutter. I find putting the sides on first and then adding an edge later is much easier than trying to smooth the entire cake in fondant.

After putting the rolled fondant on, I rolled out some edges and a handle. I also made an MK for Michael Kors, free hand, with a knife.

To finish it off I added some small rolled balls of fondant as a chain and painted those and the MK in gold. Myself and the customer was pleased with the results :)
